The Audi RS3's 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine is known for its distinct sound, thanks to its unique 1-2-4-5-3 firing order. This odd number of cylinders creates a "thrumming soundtrack" that many find pleasing. The RS3 is electronically limited to a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h), but some models, like the Nardo Edition, can reach 174 mph. With the Dynamic plus package, the top speed can be increased to 180 mph. Some tuners can remove the speed limiter altogether. The stock RS3 engine delivers between 394 and 401 horsepower, depending on the year and location. However, tuners can push the engine to produce significantly more power. Stage 1 tunes can increase output to around 475-480 hp, while Stage 2 tunes can achieve 535-565 hp. The Audi RS3 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.8 seconds. This impressive acceleration is due to the combination of its powerful engine and all-wheel-drive system. For the 2027 model year, Audi Sport is releasing a limited "Competition Limited" edition of the RS3 to celebrate 50 years of the 5-cylinder engine. This model will have an adjustable coilover suspension, a stiffer rear stabilizer, and reduced sound insulation to better expose the engine's sound.
