Baby Keem Teams Up With Kendrick
Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar joined forces for the "Good Flirts" music video, adding another high-profile collaboration to both artists' catalogs. The Scythe also dropped "Mutt That Bih" featuring Denzel Curry, Key Nyata, and 1900Rugrat. Meanwhile, rising R&B artist Pimmie released her debut project "Don't Come Home" under Drake's OVO Sound label.
The collaboration between cousins Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar is an extension of their creative partnership through pgLang, a multi-disciplinary company they co-founded with Dave Free in 2020. pgLang is described not just as a record label but as an "at-service company" for various types of creators. Their track "Family Ties" from Keem's 2021 debut album, *The Melodic Blue*, won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance. Keem also contributed production to and featured on Lamar's 2022 album, *Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers*, and the two have performed as the duo The Hillbillies. "Mutt That Bih" comes from the debut project of The Scythe, a new supergroup formed by Denzel Curry. The collective's core members include Curry, A$AP Ferg, Bktherula, TiaCorine, and Key Nyata. The group's project, titled *Strictly 4 The Scythe*, was released on March 6 and aims for a gritty, cypher-style aesthetic reminiscent of Curry's early work with the Raider Klan collective. The album features additional appearances from artists like Juicy J and Smino. Pimmie's debut on OVO Sound places her on a label known for shaping a distinct blend of R&B and hip-hop since its founding in 2012 by Drake, Noah "40" Shebib, and Oliver El-Khatib. The Toronto-based label has a history of launching the careers of prominent artists. Its roster has included acts like PartyNextDoor, Majid Jordan, dvsn, and Roy Woods.
