Philips Hue Launches New Outdoor Smart Lights
Philips Hue has officially launched three new outdoor smart lights, addressing growing demand for weatherproof and Matter-compatible lighting. The release provides more integrated options for decks, patios, and gardens within major smart home ecosystems like Apple HomeKit. The products had been the subject of rumors for several months.
- The three newly launched products are upgraded versions of the existing Turaco line: the Turaco Wall Lantern, Turaco Post, and Turaco Pedestal. These models now feature full white and color lighting, whereas previous versions were limited to white only. - A significant technical improvement in the updated Turaco range is the increased maximum brightness, which has been boosted from 806 to 1,100 lumens. - Alongside the Turaco updates, Philips Hue recently introduced the Dymera wall light, which is IP44-rated for both indoor and outdoor installation. Its key feature is two independently controllable light sources, allowing for dual-color effects shining up and down. - The Dymera model delivers a brightness of 1,020 lumens at a 4000K color temperature and offers a tunable white range from 2,000K to 6,500K. Unlike most Hue outdoor products that require a bridge, the Dymera can also be controlled directly via Bluetooth. - For creating architectural light effects, the Resonate Downward wall light projects a triangular beam of light and is rated at 590 lumens. It is also IP44 certified, ensuring protection against splashed water. - Full smart home integration for these lights, including control via Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant, requires a connection to a Philips Hue Bridge. - The company has also started to offer specific replacement parts for its outdoor lights, such as new diffusers for the Turaco line, addressing long-term outdoor wear and tear. - In addition to lighting, Philips Hue has expanded its outdoor offerings to include the Secure camera, a 1080p HD camera with an IP65 rating that integrates with the Hue lighting system to trigger lights upon motion detection.
