*ROCKAROLLICAⅢ* marks Lucy's third album, following *ROCKAROLLICA* (2004) and *ROCKAROLLICA II* (2006). Lucy, also known as Lucy Steppingstone, debuted in 2004 and is known for her energetic rock style. The album features Hisashi Imai, guitarist and vocalist for the rock band Buck-Tick since 1983. Following the 2023 death of vocalist Atsushi Sakurai, Imai began sharing lead vocal duties with fellow guitarist Hidehiko Hoshino. Buck-Tick celebrated their 33rd debut anniversary in 2020 with the release of their 22nd original album. Kiyoshi, also on the album, is a guitarist who was part of hide with Spread Beaver, the backing band for the solo career of the musician hide. Hide, who died in 1998, was a guitarist for X Japan and launched his solo project, hide with Spread Beaver, in 1997 after X Japan disbanded. Kiyoshi later joined Lucy, the band with Imai Hisashi of Buck-Tick. "PUNK THE LUCY" highlights Lucy's continued exploration of punk rock. Imai is also known for his visual aesthetics, and Buck-Tick is credited as one of the founders of the visual kei movement.
