Outta Sight Pizza to Open Bar in Former Tenderloin Dive

Outta Sight Pizza is expanding into the former Shovels dive bar space at 460 Larkin Street in San Francisco's Tenderloin. The popular pizzeria will launch a new bar concept called Reggie & Maude’s. The move represents a notable change in the Civic Center nightlife scene as a community-focused eatery replaces a long-standing establishment.

- Outta Sight Pizza was founded by Eric Ehler and Peter Dorrance, who met while working at the Michelin-starred restaurant Mister Jiu's, and started the pizzeria as a pop-up in 2020 before opening their first permanent location. - The new bar’s name, Reggie & Maude’s, pays homage to Reggie Gamble and Maude Spencer, two madams who were prominent leaders in the Tenderloin's sex workers' rights movement in 1917. - The 460 Larkin Street location has a long history as a watering hole, having previously been the Pomeroy Bar & Grill, and before that, an Irish pub called Shovels and Harrington's Harry Pub. - The previous establishment, Pomeroy Bar & Grill, which opened in 2020, closed after one of its partners decided to exit the business. - Outta Sight's founders plan to offer "top-tier" yet affordable bar food, but have not confirmed if their popular pizza will be on the menu at the new bar. - Since launching their first Tenderloin slice shop in 2022, Ehler and Dorrance have also expanded with a second pizza location in Chinatown, which opened in January 2025. - The new owners intend to continue the venue's tradition of hosting live music and cultural events in the adjacent Dodge Alley. - Renovations are planned to expand the kitchen, install a new hood, and make the bathroom accessible, with a target opening date of summer 2026.
