India Sees Surge in AI Adoption
India's AI push includes 87% of enterprises deploying AI across sectors reported, with applications in defense like border robots.
Indian enterprises are rapidly adopting AI, outpacing their global counterparts. A recent study shows that 89% of Indian organizations have either widely adopted AI or consider it critical to their operations. This is compared to a global average of 69%. This adoption is translating into tangible business results, with 63% of Indian respondents reporting strong ROI from their AI initiatives. The most common AI use cases driving value include workflow automation, data-driven insights, and improved decision-making. Overall, 75% of Indian organizations reported successful AI outcomes. India's AI push extends to its defense sector, where AI is being integrated into the army, navy, and air force. The Defence AI Council (DAIC) and the Defence AI Project Agency (DAIPA) were established to spearhead AI-based transformation within the Indian military. AI applications in defense include surveillance systems, autonomous weapons, and predictive maintenance. However, challenges remain, including increasing data infrastructure complexity and the need for robust data governance. Despite widespread experimentation, many organizations are struggling to scale AI deployments and translate pilots into sustained impact. Addressing these challenges will be crucial for India to fully realize the potential of AI across all sectors.
