Wednesday, an alternative rock band from Asheville, North Carolina, formed in 2017. The band is composed of Karly Hartzman, who handles vocals and guitar, Xandy Chelmis on pedal steel, Alan Miller on drums, and Ethan Baechtold on bass. Their sound is a blend of shoegaze, noise rock, and alternative country. The band will perform two nights at Melbourne's RISING festival, specifically at Max Watts on May 31st and June 1st. They will then head to Sydney for a headline show at the Metro Theatre on June 3rd. Alien Nosejob and Season 2 will join them in Melbourne, while Naaki Soul will be the support act in Sydney. "Bleeds," released in 2025, is Wednesday's sixth studio album. Critics have lauded the album, with some calling it the "rock album of the year". It showcases a range of sounds, from country storytelling to indie-pop melodies and walls of distorted guitar. Tickets for the Sydney show go on sale March 13th, while Melbourne tickets become available on March 16th. The tour continues in Aotearoa/New Zealand with shows in Wellington, Lyttelton, and Auckland. RISING Melbourne 2026 boasts a diverse lineup, including Lil' Kim, Kae Tempest, Dry Cleaning, and The Bats. The festival will transform Melbourne from May 27th to June 8th with over 100 events.
