Racing Bulls’ sakura livery
Formula 1’s Racing Bulls unveiled a cherry‑blossom‑inspired livery for the Japanese Grand Prix this week — a pop‑culture nod to sakura season bleeding into motorsport design. (The special Japan livery was revealed in coverage tied to the race build‑up.) (speedcafe.com)
The one-off design was created in collaboration with Japanese calligrapher Bisen Aoyagi, who translated traditional shodo brushwork into the car’s graphic elements. Racing Bulls unveiled the new scheme at the Red Bull Tokyo Drift night-time car meet in Tokyo as part of the team’s promotional build-up. Both Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad attended the Tokyo launch and will carry the one-off look on their VCARB 03 cars at Suzuka, with matching race suits and wider team kit reflecting the design. Team CEO Peter Bayer said the creative direction originated with Red Bull’s Spring Edition drink can and that the project was intended to strengthen the team’s connection with younger fans. Aoyagi is scheduled to paint Racing Bulls’ garage during the race weekend and will offer custom calligraphy for fans at event activations in Tokyo. The car will be shown around Tokyo — with planned stops at Meguro River, Tokyo Tower and a public display in Shibuya — before the livery makes its on-track debut at the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka.
