Failure Announces Reunion Album
Alt-rock band Failure will release their fourth post-reunion LP *Location Lost* on April 24th, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of their celebrated album *Fantastic Planet*. The band has already unveiled the single "The Air's on Fire" and announced a supporting tour for the new material.
- The band's original run lasted from 1990 to 1997, ending after a tour on Lollapalooza due to internal conflicts and struggles with addiction. The group officially reunited in 2014, with their first comeback show in Los Angeles selling out in minutes. - *Fantastic Planet* is widely regarded as one of the most influential rock albums of the 1990s, with its lead single "Stuck on You" peaking at No. 23 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart. However, the album's release was delayed for over a year due to a restructuring at their label, Slash Records, which hampered its initial commercial success. - The band is often referred to as "your favorite band's favorite band" due to praise from other musicians. Artists like Maynard James Keenan of Tool and Paramore have covered their songs, with Keenan stating that Failure has been a "huge inspiration" to him. - *Location Lost* follows three other full-length albums released since the band's reunion: *The Heart Is a Monster* (2015), *In the Future Your Body Will Be the Furthest Thing from Your Mind* (2018), and *Wild Type Droid* (2021). - During the band's 17-year hiatus, its members were involved in several other notable projects. Singer Ken Andrews released solo material as ON and formed the band Year of the Rabbit, while multi-instrumentalist Greg Edwards started the critically acclaimed band Autolux. - The current lineup consists of Ken Andrews, Greg Edwards, and Kellii Scott, who has been the drummer since 1993, replacing original drummer Robert Gauss. Sometime-guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen, who joined around the time of *Fantastic Planet*'s release, went on to become a member of Queens of the Stone Age.
