Slay the Spire 2 Release Date

"Slay the Spire 2" now has a release date, while Steam is giving away five new games that players can keep forever with no strings attached. The update also highlights "Repterra," a new RTS featuring dinosaurs, and a Star Trek RPG with deep systems.

- The game will launch into Steam Early Access on March 5, 2026, for PC, MacOS, and Linux. Developer Mega Crit anticipates the early access period will last for one to two years before the full release. - A major new feature is a four-player online cooperative mode, which will include multiplayer-specific cards and synergies, allowing players to climb the Spire together. - The sequel was first announced at the Triple-I Initiative Showcase in April 2024 and was originally targeting an autumn 2025 release before being delayed to March 2026 for additional polish. - The story is set 1,000 years after the original game, and the Spire has reawakened. - Three characters from the original game—the Ironclad, the Silent, and the Defect—are confirmed to return alongside at least two new characters, the Necrobinder and the Regent. The early access build will launch with five playable characters. - Developer Mega Crit has invested in significant visual upgrades, hiring a full-time art director and animator to improve the game's presentation with enhanced effects and art. - To increase replayability, the game will feature alternate acts, splitting each of the three acts into two distinct zones with different enemies, events, and bosses. - The original *Slay the Spire* also launched in early access, where it remained for about a year and a half before its official 1.0 release in January 2019.
