Hall's "missing" status was a legal one; he was not the subject of a law enforcement search but was unlocatable for the service of legal papers for over a year. Attorneys for plaintiff Liza Gardner made numerous attempts to serve Hall at addresses in California and Ohio before the search moved to Fulton County, Georgia. The search for Hall is connected to a 2023 federal civil lawsuit in which he and Sean "Diddy" Combs are accused of sexual assault. The breakthrough came on February 2, 2026, when a process server named Andrew Drake found Hall at an Extended Stay America motel in Alpharetta, Georgia. According to reports, when the process server attempted to deliver the legal documents, Hall was hesitant to accept them. The papers were ultimately left at his feet, which legally constitutes a successful service. This allows the civil case against him and Combs to move forward. Aaron Hall is a significant figure in R&B, known for his powerful vocals as the lead singer of the new jack swing group Guy, which was formed in 1988 with Teddy Riley. The group's debut album was a commercial success with hits like "Groove Me" and "I Like." As a solo artist, Hall also achieved considerable success.
