Jon Hamm Film Acquired by Sony
Sony Classics has acquired the distribution rights to "Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass," a feature starring Jon Hamm. Details about the plot or release date are not yet public, but the acquisition signals confidence in the film's appeal and Hamm's ongoing draw as a leading man.
The film, a comedy titled "Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass," stars Zoey Deutch as a Midwestern bride-to-be on a mission. After her fiancé uses his "celebrity sex pass," she embarks on a journey to Hollywood to have a fling with her own pass, who happens to be Jon Hamm, playing himself. The movie is directed by David Wain, known for the cult classic "Wet Hot American Summer," and was co-written by Wain and Ken Marino, who also has a role in the film. The comedic style is described as an absurdist and cameo-filled romp, drawing comparisons to a very adult "The Wizard of Oz." The film premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival to positive reviews before Sony Pictures Classics acquired the worldwide rights. The supporting cast includes John Slattery, also playing himself, alongside Sabrina Impacciatore, Ben Wang, and Miles Gutierrez-Riley. This acquisition marks the fourth film Sony Pictures Classics has picked up from this year's Sundance festival, following "The Only Living Pickpocket in New York," "Bedford Park," and "Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!".
