San Antonio Forms Economic Security Advisory Group

Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones announced the formation of the Economic Security Advisory Group (ESAG) to boost San Antonio’s innovation ecosystem.

The ESAG will be headed by Rackspace co-founder Graham Weston and Port San Antonio CEO Jim Perschbach. The group's focus will be on developing strategies to attract and retain businesses, as well as fostering entrepreneurship and innovation within the city. The formation of the ESAG comes as San Antonio seeks to diversify its economy and become a hub for technology and innovation. The city has seen growth in sectors such as cybersecurity, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing in recent years. Jones highlighted the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to achieve sustainable economic growth and security. The advisory group is composed of leaders from various industries, academia, and community organizations. The ESAG is expected to provide recommendations to the City Council on policies and initiatives to support economic development. These recommendations could potentially influence future investments and strategic planning for San Antonio.
