Alexandria’s boys golf team opened the spring with four wins in three days, including a Central Lakes Conference victory on its home course Monday. (echopress.com) At Alexandria Golf Club on April 20, the Cardinals shot 283, the only under-par team score in the field, and finished 10 strokes ahead of Brainerd’s 293. Weston Nyberg earned medalist honors with a 67, while Alex Imgrund of Brainerd was second at 70. (echopress.com) (brainerddispatch.com) Alexandria added three more wins at Detroit Country Club on April 21, beating Willmar, St. Cloud Crush and Brainerd in Central Lakes Conference play. Nyberg and Willmar’s Aden Jacobson each shot 70 there, with Jacobson listed as a co-medalist in West Central Tribune’s roundup. (echopress.com) (sports.yahoo.com) The Cardinals then finished third in the 24-team Stillwater Invitational on April 22 with a 304, behind East Ridge at 294 and Chanhassen at 302. Nyberg tied for fourth with a 72, and Alexandria placed ahead of programs including Chaska, Edina and Rosemount. (echopress.com) (mshsl.org) Those results gave Alexandria an immediate early-season marker in a schedule that opened with conference meets on April 20 and April 21 and a large metro-area invitational on April 22. The Minnesota State High School League schedule shows the Cardinals were also set to play St. Cloud on April 23. (mshsl.org) Nyberg’s start stands out because he posted a 67 at home, a 70 at Detroit Lakes and a 72 at Stillwater across the first three events named in Echo Press’ report. Minnesota PGA Junior Golf lists Nyberg, an Alexandria golfer in the class of 2027, as the 2025 Players Tour winner at Rose Creek Golf Course and Oxbow Country Club. (echopress.com) (mnpgajr.bluegolf.com) Alexandria Public Schools described the April 20 conference opener as a 283, or 1-under par, and said Nyberg’s 67 led the Cardinals to the home win. Detroit Lakes’ local coverage also noted that Alexandria “had themselves a day defending their home course.” (alexschools.org) (dl-online.com) Alexandria’s next listed event is the Windsong Farm Cup on April 27, followed by meets at Dacotah Ridge on May 2 and Brainerd on May 4. After a four-win opening burst, the Cardinals head into that stretch with Nyberg setting the pace. (echopress.com) (alexschoolsathletics.com)
