Lockheed Martin Expands Missile Production
Lockheed Martin is investing $150M to expand its Alabama missile facility due to surging demand and a proposed $1.5T defense budget.
The $150 million investment will enhance production operations at Lockheed Martin's Pike County facility in Alabama over the next five years. This expansion will create new full-time positions, demonstrating Lockheed Martin's commitment to the region and its skilled workforce. The Pike County Operations facility, a catalyst for southeast Alabama's economy since 1994, manufactures and supports hardware for key missile systems, including THAAD, Javelin, HELLFIRE, JASSM, and LRASM. The expansion aims to meet rising demand for munitions production. Lockheed Martin's Pike County Operations facility occupies approximately 3,800 acres and employs over 800 people. Since 2019, the facility has already created more than 300 new full-time jobs. Alabama has been working to build a foundation that allows aerospace companies like Lockheed Martin to establish facilities well-positioned for expansion. The state provided innovative hands-on training solutions and a skilled workforce ready to exceed increasing production demands.
