Juice WRLD Album Hits 7-Year Mark

Juice WRLD's *Death Race For Love* marks its 7-year anniversary, his second and final studio album before his 2019 passing. The anniversary post garnered 2,063 likes as fans continue to celebrate his legacy. The album remains a touchstone for melodic rap and continues to influence new artists in the genre.

*Death Race For Love* debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking Juice WRLD's first chart-topping album. It moved 165,000 equivalent album units in its first week, with 43,000 of those being pure album sales. The album's release marked the largest streaming week for an R&B/hip-hop album in 2019 at the time, generating 176.44 million on-demand audio streams in its first week. By October 2021, the album was certified double platinum by the RIAA. A team of high-profile producers contributed to the album's sound, including Hit-Boy, Boi-1da, Nick Mira, and No I.D. Guest appearances were made by artists like Young Thug, Brent Faiyaz, and Clever. Juice WRLD himself claimed to have freestyled all the songs on the album. The album's cover art and title were directly inspired by the popular PlayStation video game series *Twisted Metal*. This visual theme was also carried into music videos for the album, such as the one for "Hear Me Calling." While a commercial success, the album received a mixed reception from music critics. Reviewers were often divided on its 72-minute length, with some calling it self-indulgent, while others praised its raw emotion and blend of emo and rap. Following Juice WRLD's death, his estate has released two posthumous albums, *Legends Never Die* (2020) and *Fighting Demons* (2021). His label has indicated that he left behind thousands of unreleased songs, with a final posthumous album reportedly in development.
