Rising Business Confidence in Massachusetts

Massachusetts business confidence returned to optimistic territory, a first in a year.

The Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM) Business Confidence Index (BCI) hit 54.5 in February, up 2.6 points from January. It's the first time the index has been above 50, which indicates optimism, since February 2023. This increase reflects more positive views on the current and future economic outlook. The index is based on a monthly survey of Massachusetts employers. Several sub-indices also increased, including the U.S. and Massachusetts economies, the current and prospective outlooks, and companies' own sales. The only sub-index to decline was the one for employment. AIM suggests that state policymakers should focus on workforce development and controlling the cost of doing business to sustain this positive trend. They believe these efforts are crucial for maintaining business confidence in the long term.
