Miami-Based Wellness Cafe to Open in Tampa
Pura Vida, a Miami-based wellness-focused cafe, is set to open a new location in the Water Street Tampa development. The new restaurant will be located at 1038 Water Street. Pura Vida is known for its menu of all-day breakfast, salads, bowls, and smoothies.
- Pura Vida was founded in Miami Beach in 2012 by the husband-and-wife team Omer and Jennifer Horev, who both previously worked in real estate. The first cafe was a passion project for Omer Horev before he and his wife decided to leave their jobs and expand the business. - The Tampa location is part of a significant national expansion for the brand, which has grown to over 40 locations in Florida, New York, and California. In November 2025, Pura Vida received a minority investment from private equity firm TSG Consumer Partners to help accelerate this growth. - The planned Tampa cafe will feature 4,209 square feet of indoor space and a 562-square-foot outdoor patio area with a pergola. - Water Street Tampa is a $3 billion, 53-acre mixed-use development backed by Strategic Property Partners, a joint venture between Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates's Cascade Investment and Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeffrey Vinik. - The development is the first neighborhood in the world to receive WELL Community Certification, a designation from the International WELL Building Institute that recognizes communities designed to support health and well-being. - While the menu is broad, signature and popular items include various fresh-pressed juices, superfood smoothies, and a range of customizable Poke Bowls and Açaí Bowls.
