Insulet advances automated insulin delivery

Insulet released promising results for its fully closed-loop insulin delivery system for adults with type 2 diabetes.

The study showed the system significantly improved participants' time in range (TIR), a key metric for managing diabetes. TIR increased by an average of 2.7 hours per day compared to baseline. The closed-loop system, also known as an artificial pancreas, automates insulin delivery based on real-time glucose monitoring. This eliminates the need for manual insulin adjustments, simplifying diabetes management. Insulet plans to use these results to support regulatory submissions for expanded use of its Omnipod system. This could potentially make the technology available to a broader population of adults with type 2 diabetes.
