Florida Clinches SEC Basketball Title

Florida secured a share of the SEC regular season championship with a commanding victory over Arkansas. The Gators controlled pace, capitalized on turnovers, and prevented any serious comeback attempts. This positions Florida as a top contender heading into the conference tournament.

This victory marks Florida's first SEC regular-season title in 12 years, and their eighth overall. The championship was secured in front of a jubilant, sellout home crowd that witnessed a post-game celebration with confetti and the traditional cutting of the nets. The Gators' dominant 111-77 win over No. 20 Arkansas showcased their offensive depth. A season-high seven different players scored in double figures, with forward Thomas Haugh leading the charge with 22 points. Center Rueben Chinyelu anchored the defense and dominated the boards, posting his 17th double-double of the season with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Florida's bench also made significant contributions, as guards Urban Klavzar and Isaiah Brown combined for 25 points. This championship is a milestone for a program that last won the regular-season title in 2014. The team is currently on a nine-game winning streak and has won 14 of its last 15 games. Under head coach Todd Golden, the No. 7 ranked Gators have established themselves as a top team in one of college basketball's toughest conferences. The program is coming off a 2024-25 season where they won the national championship. Florida now has the opportunity to win the SEC title outright with a victory in either of their final two regular-season games. Following the regular season, they will head to the SEC Tournament in Nashville, scheduled to begin on March 11.
