LG Presents AI-Powered Home Tech
LG Electronics is showcasing its latest premium home solutions, including AI-powered appliances, at the KBIS 2026 industry show. The company presented new products from its LG SIGNATURE and SKS lines, as well as new builder solutions, as part of a strategy to strengthen its B2B appliance business in North America.
- LG's "Affectionate Intelligence" philosophy guides its AI development, aiming for technology that is more human-centric and empathetic. This approach is powered by LG's AI Core-Tech, which combines deep learning with the company's engineering in key components to deliver personalized and adaptive performance. For instance, the AI DD™ in washing machines analyzes fabric type and load weight to optimize washing motions, while the AI Dry™ cycle detects weight, material, and humidity to set the best drying temperature and time. - For builders and developers, LG is extending its AI capabilities through the ThinQ Pro platform, a B2B solution for streamlined property management. This platform allows for centralized monitoring and control of LG appliances and HVAC systems, enabling predictive maintenance, real-time installation tracking via QR codes, and efficient management of entire residential properties. The system is designed for integration with existing property management software, offering flexibility for builders. - To foster multi-tool AI workflows, LG has opened the Application Programming Interface (API) for its ThinQ smart home platform. This allows developers to integrate LG's AI appliances into their own applications and systems. The API is available in two versions: one for individual users to create custom smart home setups, and a ThinQ Business API for corporate partners to incorporate LG devices into their existing management apps for residential or office buildings. - The new LG SIGNATURE refrigerator features conversational AI based on Large Language Model (LLM) technology, allowing users to interact with it through natural language via a 6.8-inch LCD display. The Smart InstaView™ model includes an internal camera and ThinQ™ Food technology to identify ingredients and suggest recipes. The LG SIGNATURE Oven Range is equipped with an internal AI camera for its Gourmet AI, which can recognize over 85 dishes and automatically select the optimal cooking settings. - LG's commitment to human-AI collaboration is also reflected in its broader vision for a "Zero Labor Home," where intelligent devices act as agents to manage daily tasks. This is further exemplified by the development of the LG CLOiD, a home-specialized AI robot designed to physically interact with the environment and reduce manual chores. - The 2026 LG SIGNATURE lineup is presented in three distinct design collections—Iconic, Seamless, and Tailored—to offer aesthetic choices that integrate with various architectural styles. This focus on design demonstrates an understanding of the intersection between technology and the creative vision of builders and architects.
