Reno PD Under State Investigation

A state-led investigation into the Reno Police Department is underway, raising scrutiny on public sector governance within Reno.

The Reno Police Chief and five other officers are on administrative leave pending an investigation into alleged policy violations. The Nevada Department of Public Safety will conduct the investigation to ensure an objective review. Washoe County Sheriff's Office Adjunct Sheriff Corey Solferino has been appointed as the interim Police Chief. This is made possible through an interlocal agreement. Reno City Manager Jackie Bryant stated that the Reno Police Department will continue to operate under its established policies and procedures. City officials have emphasized that police services will continue without interruption. Assistant Chief Oliver Miller has resigned from the Nevada Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. He stated that his resignation should not be interpreted as an admission of wrongdoing.
