Jill Scott Drops First Video

Jill Scott released the music video for "Pressha," the lead single from her new album. This marks the Grammy-winning neo-soul artist's first return with new studio material in over a decade, with the video celebrating her significant comeback.

The forthcoming album, "To Whom This May Concern," is slated for a February 13, 2026 release. This will be Scott's sixth studio album and her first full-length project since "Woman," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2015. "Pressha" is the second single from the new record, following the release of "Beautiful People" in January 2026. The song's lyrics address the weight of societal expectations and the rejection of superficial standards. The track was co-produced by Scott herself, along with Adam Blackstone and Vincent "VT" Tolan. The album is a collaborative effort, featuring appearances from artists like Tierra Whack, J.I.D., Ab-Soul, and Too $hort. Production credits include notable names such as DJ Premier, Trombone Shorty, and Om'Mas Keith. Scott's hiatus from the recording studio was not a complete break from the public eye. During the past decade, she has continued to act, with roles in the BET series "First Wives Club" and The CW's "Black Lightning." She also embarked on a tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of her debut album, "Who Is Jill Scott?: Words and Sounds Vol. 1." In interviews, Scott explained the break was a conscious decision to "live life" in order to have new experiences to write about. She has mentioned focusing on raising her teenage son, grieving her father, and navigating perimenopause as influential periods during her time away from recording. The new album is being released independently through her own Blues Babe imprint, in partnership with Human Re Sources/The Orchard.
