Rolling Loud Australia Cancels Last-Minute

Rolling Loud Australia abruptly cancelled its Sydney and Melbourne shows just 24 hours before the first scheduled date on February 27, 2026. The major hip-hop festival provided little warning or explanation for the cancellation, leaving fans and artists scrambling. The sudden cancellation highlights ongoing logistical, financial, and regulatory risks facing large-scale music festivals globally.

In an official statement, Rolling Loud organizers placed the blame on their local partner, Primuse Entertainment, for the abrupt cancellation. They cited Primuse Entertainment's failure to meet "critical payment deadlines and related obligations" as the primary reason for the festival's collapse. This cancellation marks another setback for the festival's return to Australia, which has been anticipated since its 2019 debut. A planned comeback in 2024 was also indefinitely postponed, making this the second time in recent years that the Australian expansion has failed to materialize. The 2026 lineup was slated to be a major draw, featuring headliners Gunna and Ken Carson, along with other prominent international artists like Sexyy Red, Tyga, Swae Lee, and Quavo. The event was also set to feature a dedicated stage for local Australian and New Zealand hip-hop talent, including artists like Hooligan Hefs and Youngn Lipz. All ticket purchasers have been told they are entitled to a full refund, with details to be provided by the event organizer or official ticketing partners. The cancellation not only affects fans but also a pre-Rolling Loud event in Brisbane that was scheduled to feature performers Tyga and Quavo. This incident is part of a wider trend of struggles for large-scale music festivals in Australia. In recent years, numerous festivals, such as Splendour in the Grass and Groovin the Moo, have been cancelled due to a combination of poor ticket sales, rising operational costs, and increasing financial pressures on organizers.
