Jazz in the City will take place on March 26, 2026, transforming a six-block stretch of Bree Street into a walkable jazz circuit. The event is supported by the Mission for Inner City Cape Town as part of its placemaking and urban regeneration efforts. The festival aims to activate public spaces and bring new life to Cape Town's CBD, with galleries, bars, fashion stores and public spaces acting as venues. The event will feature performances from Sisonke Xonti, Vuyo Viwe, Yonela Mnana, and more, alongside pop-up street performances. Jazz in the City is designed as a fringe event alongside the Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF), which will be held from March 27-28, and the Montreux Jazz Festival Franschhoek from March 27-29. The CTIJF Free Community Concert will kick off Jazz Week on March 25 at Greenmarket Square, headlined by Sheila E. & The E-Train.
