Major League Volleyball Hires First Commissioner
Major League Volleyball has appointed Jaime Weston as its first-ever Commissioner. The move marks a key moment for the three-year-old league and the growth of professional women's volleyball in the U.S.
Jaime Weston brings a wealth of experience from the highest levels of sports and entertainment, having previously served as the Chief Commercial Officer for USA Volleyball and spending over 15 years as a marketing executive at the NFL. Her resume also includes leadership roles at Universal Music Group and On Location, focusing on brand growth and fan engagement. The league Weston now leads is the result of a significant merger in August 2025 between the Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF) and a competing entity that was also named Major League Volleyball. This unification brought together all existing PVF franchises under the MLV brand, creating a single, stronger league for the 2026 season. Major League Volleyball is one of several professional women's volleyball leagues in the United States, alongside Athletes Unlimited (AU) and League One Volleyball (LOVB). The consolidation of PVF and the original MLV aims to establish a premier, stable league with a traditional in-market team structure. The league currently features eight teams, including the Atlanta Vibe, Grand Rapids Rise, and the inaugural season champion Omaha Supernovas. Ambitious expansion plans are already in motion, with teams in Washington D.C., Northern California, and Minnesota slated to join in 2027. MLV has secured broadcast agreements with a diverse range of partners, including CBS Sports Network, Roku, Vice, and Ion. This multi-platform media presence is a key part of the strategy to build on the momentum of women's volleyball, which has seen record-breaking attendance and viewership at the collegiate level. The league is backed by a notable group of investors from the sports and entertainment worlds. This includes Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadivé, three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings, and recording artist Jason Derulo.
