League City’s Planning and Zoning Commission is set to meet Thursday, April 23, at 6 p.m. to weigh a rezoning request and possible code changes on housing rules. (leaguecitytx.gov) The meeting is scheduled for Council Chambers at 200 W. Walker St., and the agenda says residents can speak during citizen communication for up to three minutes. (leaguecitytx.gov) One public hearing covers a request to rezone about 0.298 acres at 2904 Hill Avenue from Residential Single-Family 5 to Limited Industrial. The site sits on the west side of Hill Avenue, south of East Strawberry Street and north of Farm to Market Road 646. (leaguecitytx.gov) A second public hearing would send a recommendation to City Council on amendments to Chapter 125 of the city code and Appendix A definitions tied to manufactured homes and accessory dwelling units. Accessory dwelling units are small secondary homes, often called backyard cottages or garage apartments. (leaguecitytx.gov) In League City, the commission does not make the final call on rezonings or text amendments. The eight-member volunteer board reviews development cases first and then sends recommendations to City Council. (leaguecitytx.gov) The commission normally meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 6 p.m., but several 2026 meetings have been canceled, including Jan. 22 for lack of quorum and Feb. 26 and April 9 by posted notice. That makes the April 23 agenda one of the city’s next chances to move pending land-use items forward. (leaguecitytx.gov 1) (leaguecitytx.gov 2) The posted agenda also includes approval of March 12 minutes, staff comments and adjournment. Under the city’s Planning and Zoning page, staff reports and attached documents are typically posted by noon on the Friday before commission consideration. (leaguecitytx.gov 1) (leaguecitytx.gov 2) For residents tracking growth block by block, Thursday’s meeting is the point where a single-property rezoning and broader housing-rule edits both enter the public record before any City Council vote.
