NGRAVE Crypto Wallet Achieves Top Global Security Standard

The NGRAVE crypto hardware wallet has earned the world's highest security certification, setting a new benchmark for digital asset custody. The device met stringent requirements for its air-gapped operation, multi-signature capabilities, and biometric authentication. This development raises the security standard for both enterprise and B2B crypto applications.

- The security standard mentioned is Evaluation Assurance Level 7 (EAL7), the highest rating under the Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation (ISO/IEC 15408). This level requires formal, independent verification and testing of a product's design and is typically used for applications in high-risk environments. - NGRAVE's EAL7 certification applies specifically to the ProvenCore operating system, a component integrated into the wallet, not the entire device. The wallet as a complete product has not undergone the EAL certification process itself. - The device maintains a complete "air-gap" by using a camera to scan QR codes for signing transactions, deliberately omitting USB, Bluetooth, NFC, or Wi-Fi connectivity to eliminate potential remote attack vectors. This differs from competitors like the Ledger Nano X, which uses Bluetooth and has an EAL5+ certification for its secure element, and the Trezor Model T, which is not EAL certified. - For enterprise and institutional buyers, custody solutions are evaluated on their ability to provide operational controls and auditability. Features like secure, offline key storage and robust backup systems are foundational for managing significant digital assets while meeting compliance standards. - The NGRAVE product suite includes the ZERO wallet, the LIQUID mobile app for initiating transactions, and GRAPHENE—a set of two stainless steel plates for backing up the private key, designed to be resistant to fire, water, and corrosion. - Despite claims of being open-source, the firmware for the NGRAVE ZERO wallet has not been publicly released for audit. As of late 2025, the company's public GitHub repository for the firmware remains empty.
