Mercedes-AMG GT EV Interior Revealed
Mercedes-AMG revealed the interior of its upcoming all-electric GT 4-Door Coupe, set for launch later this year. The next-gen cabin features a triple-screen setup and rotary controls, marrying high-tech luxury with sports sedan performance in the EV era.
This all-electric 4-door is the first vehicle built on the new, dedicated AMG.EA platform. This architecture utilizes compact, high-performance axial-flux motors developed by YASA, a UK-based company acquired by Mercedes in 2021. While official performance figures are pending, the concept predecessor, the AMG GT XX, boasted a staggering 1,341 horsepower from a tri-motor setup. This puts the upcoming production model in direct competition with top-tier EVs like the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and the Lucid Air Sapphire. The powertrain is supported by an 800-volt electrical architecture and a new high-performance battery. Mercedes has made bold claims based on its concept car, including the ability to add approximately 249 miles of range in just five minutes with a sufficiently powerful DC fast-charger. Unlike the single-pane MBUX Hyperscreen found in other high-end Mercedes models, the AMG GT EV features three separate displays. A 10.2-inch screen serves as the instrument cluster, while a central 14.0-inch touchscreen is sharply angled toward the driver to emphasize a cockpit-like feel. Despite the screen-heavy design, Mercedes-AMG has retained crucial physical controls. Three large dials are positioned on the center tunnel, allowing the driver to adjust throttle response, steering agility, and traction control without navigating through menus. The interior also features a full-length panoramic glass roof with individual dimming zones for each passenger. The system uses multiple coating layers designed to reduce heat from the sun while preventing heat loss during colder weather.
