Apple Preps Major Siri AI Upgrade for April

This AI evolution for Siri is a direct response to advancements from competitors like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini, aiming to shift Siri from a command-based assistant to a conversational, multi-step task handler. The initial update in iOS 26.4 is slated to introduce more personalized features, with a full chatbot-style overhaul planned for iOS 27, which is expected to be unveiled in June 2026. The technological foundation for this leap is a multi-year partnership with Google, leveraging their Gemini AI models. This collaboration provides the powerful, large-scale AI needed for complex reasoning and generation, while Apple's "Private Cloud Compute" is designed to ensure that user data remains secure and private, even when requests are processed off-device.
