Radiohead Hints New Music
Radiohead is dropping strong hints about more reunion concerts and their first new music release in a decade. The alt-rock band has been largely dormant in recent years, making this potential return to both live performances and studio work a major development for fans.
- The band's last studio album, "A Moon Shaped Pool," was released in May 2016. Following the tour for that album, which ended in 2018, the band entered a seven-year hiatus from the stage before returning for a limited European tour in late 2025. - The current speculation was ignited when all five members of Radiohead were appointed as directors of a new company named Futile Endeavours Limited on February 19, 2026. The band has a history of creating new corporate entities shortly before releasing new albums, including Dawnchorus Limited before "A Moon Shaped Pool" and Ticker Tape Limited before "The King of Limbs". - During the band's hiatus, frontman Thom Yorke and guitarist Jonny Greenwood formed a new band called The Smile with drummer Tom Skinner. The Smile has been prolific, releasing three studio albums between 2022 and 2024: "A Light for Attracting Attention," "Wall of Eyes," and "Cutouts". - Jonny Greenwood has also expanded his work as an Oscar-nominated film score composer. He frequently collaborates with director Paul Thomas Anderson and has scored films such as "There Will Be Blood," "Phantom Thread," and "The Power of the Dog". - In a recent interview, Jonny Greenwood expressed that he found it "strange" that the band didn't perform any new material during their 2025 reunion tour. He noted that the band members' creative energies had been focused on their other projects. - Other members have also pursued projects outside of Radiohead. Guitarist Ed O'Brien released a solo album titled "Earth" in 2020, and bassist Colin Greenwood has toured and recorded with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
