Addison Closes for Renovation

San Diego's only Michelin three-star restaurant Addison is closing temporarily for renovation. The West Coast fine dining flagship is planning enhancements to create an even more refined luxury experience when it reopens. Details on the renovation timeline and specific upgrades haven't been announced yet.

San Diego native and self-taught chef William Bradley has been at the helm of Addison since it opened in 2006. The restaurant is named after architect Addison Mizner, whose Mediterranean revival style is reflected in the Fairmont Grand Del Mar where the restaurant is located. Addison's journey to the pinnacle of culinary achievement was a rapid ascent. It earned its first Michelin star in 2019, followed by a second in 2021, and culminated in the prestigious three-star rating in 2022. This made it the first restaurant in Southern California to receive this top honor. The restaurant is one of only a handful in the United States to hold three Michelin stars. It is also the only restaurant to currently hold the triple distinction of three Michelin stars, a Forbes Five-Star rating, and a AAA Five Diamond award. Chef Bradley's culinary style has evolved from contemporary French cuisine to what he calls "California Gastronomy." This approach focuses on using regional ingredients and draws inspiration from the multicultural influences of Southern California, while applying refined French techniques. The ten-course tasting menu has featured signature dishes such as Regiis Ova Reserve Caviar and scallops with morel cream. This commitment to an evolving, locally-focused menu has established San Diego as a global dining destination.
