Tesla Semi Shows Promising Efficiency

Tesla's Semi logged 1.64 kWh/mile in a 4,700-mile fleet trial, signaling progress for electric commercial vehicles reported. High-volume production is expected soon.

The 1.64 kWh/mile efficiency was achieved with an average cargo weight of 25,000 lbs. This figure is noteworthy because it demonstrates the Semi's energy consumption under realistic operating conditions. The trial also showcased energy consumption as low as 1.4 kWh/mile on specific routes. This suggests that route optimization and driving conditions can further improve the Semi's efficiency. PepsiCo is among the first companies to integrate the Tesla Semi into its fleet. Their usage will provide valuable real-world data on the Semi's long-term performance and reliability.
