Real Estate Portals Integrate ChatGPT
Major real estate portals including Redfin, REA Group, and Leboncoin have rolled out integrations with ChatGPT. The platforms are using the large language model to power property search, generate recommendations, and provide automated answers to user questions. The adoption indicates that LLM-powered features are becoming standard in vertical consumer platforms.
- Redfin's ChatGPT app, launched in February 2026, allows users to conversationally search for listings, explore neighborhoods, and get market data. This builds on their conversational search feature introduced on their website in November 2025. Early testing of the website feature showed users viewed nearly twice as many listings. - Zillow, a competitor, was the first to launch a ChatGPT app in October 2025. Zillow has a longer history with AI, using machine learning for its "Zestimate" tool since 2006 and now uses AI to enhance agent CRM tools and improve internal software development productivity by up to 15%. - UK-based portal Rightmove is beta-testing an AI-powered conversational search tool built with Google's Gemini models. This follows their 2025 launch of "AI Keywords" search and "Style with AI" for visualizing property changes. - Australian portal REA Group partnered with OpenAI to launch "realAssist," a conversational companion to help homeowners understand property valuations. They also rolled out a ChatGPT app for conversational property search, noting higher adoption among younger users. - French marketplace Leboncoin has 70 AI features in production and uses a custom internal chatbot named "Ada" which is regularly used by half of their employees. Their public ChatGPT integration allows users to conversationally search its 89 million listings. - The underlying technology for these features often involves Large Language Models (LLMs) to understand natural language queries, enabling searches like "three-bedroom house in Paris under $800,000". These LLMs are also used for tasks like generating property descriptions, analyzing market trends, and powering chatbots. - While portals are embracing conversational AI, there have been concerns raised about potential data scraping. Leboncoin addressed this by stating their ChatGPT app uses the same secure API as their main website with even more restrictions. - The push for AI integration extends beyond search to areas like property valuation, automated document analysis, and predicting market trends. The global AI in real estate market is projected to reach approximately $1.8 trillion by 2030.
