Switch 2 news via ratings

Rather than a big Direct, Nintendo’s next-wave games are surfacing through classification moves — Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave received a PEGI rating and had its European classification renewed, and Splatoon Raiders was rated for Switch 2 in Europe ( ). Industry observers note this piecemeal pattern of ratings and small reveals instead of a traditional Direct as a signal of how Nintendo is rolling out Switch 2 information ( ).

Nintendo’s next Switch 2 release clues are showing up in Europe’s age-rating system, not in a new Nintendo Direct. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave now has a PEGI 12 listing, and Splatoon Raiders has a PEGI 7 listing on Nintendo’s European pages. (thegamer.com, gonintendo.com) Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave was announced in September 2025 as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive for 2026, and Nintendo’s Spanish game page still lists a 2026 release window. Nintenderos reported this week that the game’s European classification was also renewed. (nintendo.com, nintenderos.com) Splatoon Raiders, a single-player Splatoon spinoff for Switch 2, was given a PEGI 7 rating in Europe, according to GoNintendo and other Nintendo-focused outlets that tracked the store-page change on April 11 and April 12. Nintendo has not posted a public release date for the game. (gonintendo.com, nintendolife.com) PEGI, short for Pan European Game Information, is the age-classification system used across much of Europe, and updated ratings often appear shortly before publishers lock in marketing or release details. These changes do not guarantee an immediate launch, but they usually mean a game’s public store materials are moving forward. (thegamer.com, finalweapon.net) That matters because Nintendo has already used a large-format presentation for Switch 2 once. Nintendo’s March 27, 2025 Direct said Switch 2 details would be shared in a dedicated April 2, 2025 presentation, and that showcase set the console’s broader launch agenda. (nintendo.com, ign.com) Since then, Nintendo has increasingly pointed players to its Nintendo Today! mobile app for daily updates, including Switch 2 news, videos, comics, and release-date reminders. The company’s official site says the app also tracks Nintendo events in an in-app calendar. (nintendo.com, en-americas-support.nintendo.com) Nintendo’s official news posts in March and April 2026 have also arrived as smaller, separate updates instead of one new Switch 2 roadmap presentation. On March 25, Nintendo published a pricing change for digital Switch 2 exclusives starting with Yoshi and the Mysterious Book preorders in May 2026. (nintendo.com, nintendo.com) That leaves ratings boards, store pages, and app posts doing some of the work that a Direct once did all at once. For now, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave and Splatoon Raiders look less like surprise reveals than the next pieces in Nintendo’s slower Switch 2 rollout. (gamingdeputy.com, es.kotaku.com)
