Golf Channel College Push
Golf Channel launched over 200 hours of college golf programming today, including the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, with expanded morning shows and in-depth coverage. This represents a major commitment to collegiate golf content for fans wanting more university-level tournament action.
The commitment to college golf extends beyond just live tournament coverage, with a revamped morning show lineup for 2026. This includes the return of "5 Clubs with Gary Williams" from Monday to Wednesday and the debut of "The Big Swing with Jimmy Roberts" on Tuesdays. These shows aim to provide in-depth analysis and cover the business and lifestyle aspects of the sport. The Darius Rucker Intercollegiate has been a trailblazer in women's collegiate golf coverage. In 2022, it made history as the first-ever all-women's regular-season college golf tournament to be broadcast live on the Golf Channel. The event is hosted by the University of South Carolina at Long Cove Club on Hilton Head Island. This expanded coverage builds on a trend of growing interest in college sports. While specific recent viewership numbers for college golf are not readily available, the overall audience for college sports has seen significant growth, suggesting a larger potential audience for this programming. The increased focus on college golf also comes as notable names, such as Charlie Woods, are expected to enter the collegiate ranks, which could further boost viewership. The 2026 schedule includes live coverage of 11 college golf events, culminating in the NCAA Men's and Women's National Championships. In addition to the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, other televised tournaments include the Folds of Honor Collegiate, the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, and the East Lake Cup. A new addition to the broadcast schedule for 2026 is the Abilene Christian Intercollegiate.
