The "Andy Warhol: Art Star" exhibit, running from May 23 to October 4, is a partnership with Tate and the National Galleries of Scotland. It's part of the ARTIST ROOMS program featuring international artists. The exhibition will showcase iconic and lesser-known Warhol pieces from the 1950s-1980s. Expect to see drawings, screenprints, paintings, and photographs, including images of Marilyn Monroe and Campbell's Soup cans. Wolverhampton Art Gallery has a strong connection to Pop Art and holds one of the largest Pop Art collections outside of London. Warhol's "Campbell's Soup" piece from the gallery's collection will be displayed alongside the visiting ARTIST ROOMS collection. The display will also feature Warhol's early commercial illustrations, portraits of celebrities like Liz Taylor, and images reflecting American consumer culture. Some paintings from the 1980s, never shown in his lifetime, and "Interview" magazines will also be available for viewing. Councillor Chris Burden sees the exhibition as a sign of Wolverhampton's growing cultural reputation. He encourages everyone, especially young people, to experience Warhol's unique perspective.
