Gun Outfit Returns After Six Years
Gun Outfit has announced their first album in 6 years, titled *Process & Reality*, due May 12. The experimental indie rock band has also announced a string of East Coast shows and released the track "Unfelt Loss." Their comeback is a highlight for fans after the six-year hiatus.
- The band's previous full-length album was 2017's *Out of Range*, which was released on the Paradise of Bachelors record label. - Core members Dylan Sharp and Carrie Keith founded the band in Olympia, Washington, in 2007 before relocating to Los Angeles in 2012. - The new album's title is a reference to a book by philosopher Alfred North Whitehead, and the record was created under apocalyptic conditions on a ranch in Pine Flat while a forest fire burned nearby. - Their sound, which the band has described as "Western Expanse," has evolved from early comparisons to Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr. to a more relaxed style incorporating elements of folk, cosmic country, and psychedelia. - The upcoming double LP will feature a wide array of instruments, including sitar, dulcimer, and custom instruments built by band member Henry Barnes. - Now a five-piece, the band's lineup includes co-founders Sharp and Keith, along with Adam Payne on bass, Daniel Swire on drums, and multi-instrumentalist Henry Barnes, who has played with the legendary hardcore band Man Is the Bastard.
