Astra Kitchen & Bar Opens in Zurich
A new Greek restaurant, Astra Kitchen & Bar, has opened in Zurich. The restaurant was founded by Seigi and Stelios with the goal of bringing authentic Greek cuisine to the city. The founders aim to offer residents a taste of "Greek magic with passion and style."
- The founders are brothers Seigi and Stelios Sterkoudis, who previously ran the renowned Zurich establishment "Kaufleuten" for eight years. - The restaurant's name, "Astra," which is Greek for "star," is a tribute to a legendary club on the island of Mykonos. - Head chef Dimitris Kiapekos, who also previously worked at "Kaufleuten," leads a kitchen staff that prioritizes hiring people with Greek roots to authentically represent the country's hospitality. - Located in the Kreis 1 district on Löwenstrasse, the restaurant's interior was crafted by the design firm Dyer-Smith to create an elegant space for a culinary journey. - Astra Kitchen & Bar operates with a "Dine & Dance" concept, transitioning from a restaurant to a club atmosphere with live DJs on Friday and Saturday nights starting at 10 p.m. - The menu features Mediterranean dishes with a strong Greek influence, including shareable appetizers like baked feta, ceviche, and shrimp "aglio e olio". - The venue offers a small terrace with a view over the Sihl river, adding to the Mediterranean-inspired ambiance. - In addition to evening service, the restaurant also caters to the business lunch crowd with a daily changing menu.
