Bay Area Stamp Fest Underway in San Jose

Napredak Hall, the venue for the festival, has its own unique history. The name "Napredak" is a Yugoslavian word for "progress." The hall was established in 1925 by a group of Yugoslavian friends aiming to preserve Slavic traditions and create a social hub in their new country. While the San Jose Stamp Club hosts its annual "Filatelic Fiesta" at the same venue, the Bay Area Stamp Fest is a separate event that draws dealers from various states, including California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Utah. This provides attendees with a diverse range of stamps, covers, and postcards to browse and purchase. The broader world of stamp collecting, or philately, is experiencing a significant evolution.
