Apple Pushes New Vision Pro Content, Fixes
Apple is continuing to build out the Vision Pro ecosystem, releasing a new immersive video in its 'Elevated' series. The company also shipped visionOS 26.3.1, a minor update that fixes a key flickering bug in the Apple TV app.
The latest "Elevated" immersive video transports viewers on an eight-minute flight over the Swiss Alps, including the Matterhorn, guided by Swiss actor Carla Juri. This marks the third installment of the travel series, following previous episodes that explored the landscapes of Hawaii and Maine. The experience is filmed in Apple Immersive Video, a format that uses 180-degree 8K 3D video coupled with Spatial Audio to create a sense of presence. The visionOS 26.3.1 update addresses a specific visual bug that caused flickering when using the MultiView feature for live sports within the Apple TV app. This fix is critical as Apple continues to expand its live sports content, including the current Major League Soccer season and its exclusive Formula 1 coverage starting in March. To bolster the Vision Pro's content library, Apple is collaborating with external partners, with upcoming immersive films from the BBC, CNN, CANAL+, and Red Bull. The company is also fostering a creator ecosystem by promoting professional-grade tools like Blackmagic Design's URSA Cine Immersive camera, designed specifically for capturing Apple Immersive Video. This focus on first-party content and technical fixes is a key part of Apple's long-term strategy for the device. The growth of the third-party Vision Pro App Store has been slower than for the iPhone or Apple Watch in their early days, making Apple's own premium, immersive experiences crucial for demonstrating the platform's value.
