Brampton is marking Volunteer Appreciation Week from April 19 to 25 with city-led events, outreach and recruitment across the city. (brampton.ca) The city’s homepage says the week invites residents to “celebrat[e] our volunteer champions” and explore volunteer opportunities during the seven-day run. Mayor Patrick Brown also proclaimed April 19 to 25 as National Volunteer Week in Brampton. (brampton.ca 1) (brampton.ca 2) The push doubles as a recruitment drive. Brampton’s volunteer application intake is open April 1 to 30, 2026, and the city says residents become eligible to volunteer at age 14. (brampton.ca) City postings list volunteer roles in Animal Services, aquatics, fitness, skating, senior programs, special events, youth programs and Community Emergency Response Volunteers, among others. Applicants may also need a satisfactory Level 2 or Level 3 police record check, depending on the role. (brampton.ca) Brampton is tying this year’s events to a larger message about volunteer capacity inside city services. In the 2026 proclamation, the city said more than 1,000 Brampton volunteers logged more than 52,424 hours in 2025 supporting programs, services and community initiatives. (brampton.ca) That total is echoed across recreation pages, including the Knightsbridge Senior Centre, where the city says 1,245 volunteers dedicated more than 52,424 hours in 2025. The city has been using those pages this week to thank volunteers while directing residents to current opportunities. (brampton.ca) The campaign also builds on Brampton’s annual National Volunteer Week messaging. In 2025, the city said volunteers support programs ranging from cultural events and youth mentoring to public safety and environmental efforts. (brampton.ca) This year’s proclamation says Brampton is working with Volunteer MBC, a nonprofit that connects residents with volunteer placements, as part of its effort to grow participation. The 2026 theme is “Ignite Volunteerism.” (brampton.ca) For residents, the timing is straightforward: the celebration runs through Friday, April 25, and the city’s volunteer intake stays open through Wednesday, April 30. Brampton is directing people to its volunteer portal for the week’s schedule and sign-ups. (brampton.ca 1) (brampton.ca 2)
