New Lightweight Hiking Footwear Launched for Spring
Outdoor brand NORTIV 8 has launched its new Armadillo FieldLite™ collection for the Spring/Summer 2026 season. The company says the footwear is ultra-light, waterproof, and designed to work for both trail hiking and everyday street use.
The new Armadillo FieldLite™ collection enters a market where hiking footwear is increasingly shedding weight and bulky silhouettes in favor of versatile, sneaker-like designs. This trend reflects a consumer shift towards products that can handle both a weekend trail and weekday errands, moving away from single-purpose outdoor gear. Major brands have focused on reducing weight while maintaining support, a balance NORTIV 8 aims to strike with this new line. A key feature of the FieldLite™ is its "DualStride™" dual-density midsole, which is engineered to provide both cushioning and energy return. This is paired with a "4-in-1 Rebound" cushioning system designed for shock absorption. The combination of these technologies targets the demand for all-day comfort, whether on uneven trails or hard pavement. To achieve its "ultra-light" classification, the FieldLite™ utilizes a mix of nylon and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) for the upper construction, with a lightweight EVA midsole and a rubber outsole. A men's size 6 of the Mid Waterproof hiking boot weighs just 12.7 ounces, a significant reduction from the brand's previous "Armadillo 2" model. This launch continues NORTIV 8's strategy of offering budget-friendly alternatives in the outdoor market. The FieldLite™ is priced around $75, positioning it as a competitor to more established, and often more expensive, brands that also offer lightweight, versatile hiking shoes. The collection includes both mid-top boots and low-cut sneaker styles for men and women.
