Google tests proactive Gemini 'Your Day'

Google is preparing a Gemini‑powered feed called "Your Day" that surfaces helpful, proactive information rather than waiting for queries, a move toward ambient assistance. Separately, Google posted a developer tutorial showing how to build a talking desk robot using Gemini Live and a Reachy Mini platform. (9to5google.com) (dev.to)

Google is testing a Gemini feature called “Your Day” that would push information to you before you ask for it. (9to5google.com) The evidence comes from an application teardown published by 9to5Google on April 13, which found strings in the Google app referring to a Gemini-powered “proactive feed” named “Your Day.” 9to5Google linked the idea to older Google products including Google Now and Assistant Snapshot. (9to5google.com) A proactive feed is a home screen of suggestions rather than a chat box: weather before a commute, reminders before a meeting, or travel details before a flight. Google has already been adding more personal context to Gemini through memory, connected apps, and Android actions inside the Gemini mobile app. (support.google.com 1) (support.google.com 2) Google has also been expanding the live, spoken side of Gemini. Google said two weeks ago that Gemini 3.1 Flash Live launched in Google AI Studio for developers building real-time voice and vision agents, and Gemini Live support pages say the feature works on Android with the Gemini mobile app or Gemini as the mobile assistant. (blog.google) (support.google.com) That helps explain a second Google signal from April 13: a Google AI developer post on Dev.to showing how to build a talking desk robot with Gemini Live and Reachy Mini. The tutorial was posted by Thor Schaeff for Google AI and walks through a voice robot that listens, answers, and moves. (dev.to) Reachy Mini is a small open-source robot platform from Pollen Robotics with a software kit for movement, speech, hearing, and camera features. Its public software repository says developers can connect language models, build apps, and publish them to Hugging Face. (github.com) Google’s robot tutorial fits with a broader push to make Gemini act less like a search field and more like a constant interface across devices. Google’s own March and April product updates have tied Gemini to phones, Search Live, Google Home, and higher-priced Google AI subscription tiers. (blog.google 1) (blog.google 2) (9to5google.com) Google has not publicly announced “Your Day” as a shipping feature, and teardowns often surface tools that change or never launch. But the pairing of a proactive feed inside the Google app and a same-day robot demo built on Gemini Live shows the company testing a wider form of ambient assistance around Gemini.
