Notable tech hiring moves

Social posts flagged recent senior moves: a Workday CTO joining Anthropic and an Atlassian CTO shifting into a Stripe business lead role, signaling notable mobility among senior engineering leaders. The posts suggest these hires reflect changing preferences at the executive level in the software and AI sectors. (x.com)

Two senior software leaders moved in different directions this year: Workday veteran Rahul Patil became Anthropic’s chief technology officer in October 2025, and Atlassian chief technology officer Rajeev Rajan stepped down on March 31, 2026 as Atlassian split the role during a broader reorganization. (anthropic.com) (sec.gov) Anthropic said Patil will oversee engineering across product, compute, infrastructure, inference, data science, and security as it scales Claude for enterprise customers. The company announced his hire on October 7, 2025. (anthropic.com) Workday’s current leadership page no longer lists Patil among its top executives, and Anthropic’s February 2026 product announcement referred to him as its chief technology officer. Anthropic said that same month that chief product officer Mike Krieger was moving into Labs while Ami Vora would lead product alongside Patil. (workday.com) (anthropic.com) Atlassian disclosed in a March 11, 2026 filing that Rajan would leave after nearly four years as chief technology officer. The company said the move came with a restructuring that would eliminate about 10% of its workforce. (sec.gov) Atlassian said Taroon Mandhana would become chief technology officer for Teamwork and Vikram Rao would become chief technology officer for Enterprise and chief trust officer. In a public post the same day, Atlassian said the reorganization would self-fund more investment in artificial intelligence and enterprise sales. (sec.gov) (atlassian.com) Those moves land as Anthropic and Stripe are both pushing harder into business customers. Anthropic said in July 2025 that it was adding its first chief commercial officer, and Stripe said in March 2026 that its Revenue suite was on pace for a $1 billion annual run rate. (anthropic.com) (stripe.com) Stripe’s latest annual update said businesses on its platform generated $1.9 trillion in total payment volume in 2025, up 34% from 2024. Stripe also said it now powers 90% of the Dow Jones Industrial Average and 80% of the Nasdaq 100. (stripe.com) Atlassian and Stripe have worked together before. Stripe said in 2020 that Atlassian chose Stripe to consolidate payments and billing systems into one platform as Atlassian expanded its enterprise software business. (stripe.com) The public record is thinner on Rajan’s next job than on Patil’s. Atlassian’s filing confirms his exit date and the role split, but Stripe has not published a newsroom announcement naming Rajan to a new post. (sec.gov) (stripe.com) What is clear is the direction of travel inside the companies involved: Anthropic added a traditional chief technology officer as it built out Claude for large customers, while Atlassian broke one chief technology office into two specialized posts as it cut 1,600 jobs and redirected spending toward artificial intelligence and enterprise sales.
