Miami Food Festivals Drive Community
The Miami Lakes Food & Wine Festival and South Beach Food & Wine Festival showcased how local events drive meaningful connections between consumers, restaurateurs, and small businesses. Both festivals emphasized community impact and provided platforms for culinary entrepreneurship.
The larger and more famous of the two, the South Beach Wine & Food Festival® (SOBEWFF®), is a national, star-studded four-day event that will be celebrating its 25th anniversary from February 19-22, 2026. This massive festival features over 100 events, drawing more than 500 chefs, culinary personalities, and influencers from around the world. Beyond the celebrity glamour, SOBEWFF® has a significant charitable heart, having raised over $34 million for the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Florida International University (FIU). More than 1,000 FIU students volunteer at the festival, gaining hands-on experience alongside industry giants. The festival's economic impact is also substantial, with a history of attracting over 65,000 attendees to its various tastings, dinners, and seminars across Miami-Dade. The Miami Lakes Food & Wine Festival, while more locally focused, has a direct and immediate community impact. Proceeds from this one-night event benefit The Miami Lakes Town Foundation, a non-profit that supports local educational programs, youth activities, and beautification projects. The festival operates under the slogan "Be kind, drink wine," emphasizing its mission of kindness and community building. Founded by Giuseppe Zuozo and Lynn Matos, the Miami Lakes event showcases dozens of local restaurants and beverage providers to a 21-and-over crowd at Optimist Park. In 2024, the festival successfully raised and donated $18,605 to its foundation to fund 12 community grants, demonstrating its focused commitment to hyper-local causes.
