Huawei Launches Hybrid Cloud Solution Globally
At MWC Barcelona 2026, Huawei Cloud officially launched its Huawei Cloud Stack (HCF) for the global market. The solution is designed to provide an open, simplified, and resilient hybrid cloud for enterprise customers. The launch was part of a broader summit focused on industry-specific AI solutions.
Huawei's strategic push with Cloud Stack (HCS) centers on deploying a full stack of public cloud capabilities within a customer's own data center. This hybrid model provides on-premises control over critical systems and sensitive data while offering access to advanced services like databases, big data analytics, and AI. The architecture is designed for consistency, ensuring that all cloud services operate with the same GUI and logic whether on the public or private side. The latest iteration, Huawei Cloud Stack 8.3, introduces over 110 on-premises cloud services. Key enhancements focus on large AI model deployment, mainframe modernization, and converged data lakes that support both OLAP and HTAP workloads. For AI, the platform provides a complete production chain, including computing power, development kits, and the Pangu large model, which has reportedly improved training efficiency by 45%. A major architectural feature is the support for multi-architecture computing, allowing for the unified management of both x86 and Kunpeng-based resource pools. For high availability, the system offers various disaster recovery solutions, including local, remote, and geo-redundant options, aiming for zero data loss and service recovery within minutes. One financial client reportedly reduced upgrade times for a 1,200-node cluster from 21 days to just five hours using the new modular hypervisor architecture. Huawei's go-to-market strategy in Europe heavily relies on a "Partner + Huawei" model, empowering managed service providers (MSPs) and specialists. Initiatives like GoCloud, GrowCloud, and the "Cloud Leap" program are designed to help partners develop expertise in distributed cloud and AI-ready infrastructure. The company currently serves over 6,000 European enterprises through this partner-centric ecosystem. The global launch comes as Huawei reported 2025 revenues exceeding 880 billion yuan (approximately US$127 billion), its second-highest figure on record, driven by AI and its HarmonyOS ecosystem. The company is also expanding its European infrastructure with a third availability zone in its Ireland Region slated to launch in early 2026, which is expected to increase the reliability of storage and database services tenfold. From a compliance and security standpoint, HCS is positioned to address data sovereignty concerns, which are critical under regulations like GDPR. The platform features a seven-layer security architecture and multi-layered ransomware protection. Analyst firm Omdia has recognized Huawei Cloud Stack for its strengths in cloud management, data handling, and security.
