Bruno Mars Hits No. 1

Bruno Mars' fourth album "The Romantic" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 186,000 equivalent album units in its opening week. This marks his first chart-topper in over a decade, proving his staying power in an increasingly crowded pop landscape.

While "The Romantic" is Mars' first chart-topper in over a decade, his previous two solo albums also made a significant impact. His 2016 album, "24K Magic," debuted at No. 2 with 231,000 units, and 2012's "Unorthodox Jukebox" also opened at No. 2 before eventually climbing to the top spot three months after its release. The lead single from the new album, "I Just Might," set the stage for this success by debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. This follows a string of recent chart-topping collaborations for Mars, including "Die with a Smile" with Lady Gaga and "APT." with Rosé. This solo release comes after the success of his collaborative project Silk Sonic with Anderson .Paak. Their 2021 album, "An Evening with Silk Sonic," peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Mars' entire catalog has demonstrated remarkable staying power on the charts. His first three albums—"Doo-Wops & Hooligans," "Unorthodox Jukebox," and "24K Magic"—have each spent more than 200 weeks on the Billboard 200. His 2010 debut, "Doo-Wops & Hooligans," has had one of the longest runs in chart history, spending over 750 weeks on the Billboard 200, placing it in an elite group of enduring albums.
