Anthropic enterprise adoption rising

Ramp data indicates Anthropic's enterprise adoption is accelerating and may soon outpace competitors in certain business spending measures. Multiple outlets cited the data as a sign enterprises are diversifying their model vendors. (businessinsider.com) (officechai.com)

Anthropic is closing in on OpenAI in paid business use, according to Ramp’s latest spending data from more than 50,000 United States businesses. (ramp.com) Ramp said 50.4% of businesses in its sample paid for artificial intelligence tools in March, up from 35% a year earlier. Anthropic’s share rose to 30.6% of businesses from 24.4% a month earlier, while OpenAI stood at 35.2%. (ramp.com) That left a 4.6-point gap between OpenAI and Anthropic in March, down from 11 points in February. Ramp said Anthropic could overtake OpenAI within two months if that pace holds. (ramp.com) Ramp’s index tracks corporate card charges and invoiced payments, not app downloads or free use. The company said its data comes from more than 50,000 American businesses and billions of dollars in corporate spend on its platform. (ramp.com) The measure captures a change from last year, when Ramp data showed OpenAI widening its lead. In April 2025, Ramp said 32.4% of businesses in its sample paid OpenAI, versus 8% paying Anthropic. (techcrunch.com) New-customer spending has also tilted toward Anthropic. Axios reported on March 18 that Anthropic was capturing more than 73% of spending among companies buying artificial intelligence tools for the first time, citing Ramp data. (axios.com) Ramp said Anthropic already leads in information, finance, and professional services, the sectors where paid artificial intelligence adoption is highest in its sample. The same update said venture-capital-backed companies had an 80% adoption rate, compared with 64% for private-equity-backed companies and 45% for everyone else. (ramp.com) Both companies spent the past week adding features aimed at corporate buyers. Anthropic added role-based access controls for Enterprise plans and team-level controls for Claude Cowork, while OpenAI introduced a $100 ChatGPT Pro tier with higher Codex usage limits. (support.claude.com) (developers.openai.com) Ramp also says its index likely understates total use because it misses free tools and employees who expense nothing through company accounts. The next few monthly updates will show whether Anthropic’s recent gains turn into a lead or whether OpenAI holds its edge in paid business accounts. (ramp.com)
