Google bundles Gemini into Workspace

Google introduced an AI Pro plan at $19.99/month that includes Gemini 3.1 Pro and deeper Workspace integrations, signalling a move to make Gemini a default productivity layer. (zdnet.com) Google also added free, full‑length practice tests in Gemini for exams like SAT, JEE Main and NEET UG, and is reportedly preparing a proactive Gemini feed called “Your Day.” (workspaceupdates.googleblog.com) (9to5google.com)

Google is folding more of Gemini into the tools people already use for email, documents and search, while packaging that access in its $19.99-a-month Google AI Pro plan. (one.google.com) Google’s consumer AI plans page says Google AI Pro includes more access to Gemini 3.1 Pro and Deep Research in Gemini, more access to Gemini 3 Pro in Google Search AI Mode, and Gemini in Google apps for tasks such as proofreading in Gmail. The plan also includes expanded cloud storage through Google One. (one.google.com) (support.google.com) Google has been adding those Workspace hooks in public. On March 10, Google said Gemini in Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drive would get new features for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, including help creating documents, organizing spreadsheets and building presentations from a prompt. (blog.google) That extends a shift Google started on the business side in 2025, when it said the best of Google AI would be included in Workspace Business and Enterprise plans with no separate add-on. Google said those plans would ship Gemini features across Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Chat and Meet. (workspace.google.com) (blog.google) The consumer move matters because Google is no longer selling Gemini mainly as a standalone chatbot. Its own product pages now describe Gemini as part of Search, Chrome, Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Photos, NotebookLM and developer tools under the same subscription umbrella. (9to5google.com) (support.google.com) Google is also widening Gemini’s use beyond office work. In January it launched free full-length SAT practice tests in Gemini, in February it added Joint Entrance Examination Main tests, and on April 13 it expanded that feature to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate exam. (workspaceupdates.googleblog.com 1) (workspaceupdates.googleblog.com 2) (workspaceupdates.googleblog.com 3) Google said the test prep feature is available at no cost and can be started with prompts such as asking Gemini for a practice SAT or mock Joint Entrance Examination Main test. For the JEE Main rollout, Google said the material was grounded in content from PhysicsWallah and Careers360. (workspaceupdates.googleblog.com 1) (workspaceupdates.googleblog.com 2) Another piece of the strategy appears to be making Gemini more proactive. 9to5Google reported on April 13 that beta code in version 17.14 of the Google app points to a “Your Day” feature described as “a proactive feed from Gemini” inside Google’s Personal Intelligence settings. (9to5google.com) Google has not publicly announced “Your Day,” so that feature remains unconfirmed until the company ships it or comments on it. But taken with the new Workspace features and study tools, the direction is clear: Gemini is being positioned less as a separate destination and more as a layer across Google’s existing products.
